If you’ve lived in Middle Tennessee for any length of time, you’ve probably heard of Second Harvest. For 33 years, this organization has been a leader in our area in the fight against hunger. Simply put, they feed people in need. It has grown into one of the largest community food banks in the nation; last year they distributed over 26,000 tons of food to our neighbors who needed it. Now that’s good work.
Now there is a delicious way that you can help out Second Harvest in Drink Music City fashion. This is the second year Rodney Strong will be partnering with Second Harvest to feed over 30,000 people. Last year was a great success, with over 28,000 people benefitting from this partnership over the holiday season, and the goal this year is to make it 2,000 more.
How does it work? Drink Rodney Strong wines! That’s it. A portion of the dough you fork over will go to Second Harvest.
I’m in. I’ve been to the winery on my last trip to Sonoma. I love their Cabernet. You don’t have to ask me twice. So next time you’re in your local wine store pick up a bottle or two knowing you’re helping out some hungry folks. Unless it’s Sunday, because we have that stupid law that doesn’t allow you to buy wine on Sunday (obviously our legislators hate helping hungry people). But you can help out when you’re out to dinner seven days a week. Or lunch. If you see Rodney Strong on the wine list, ask if that establishment is participating.
So raise a glass and feed some people!
