Operation Eggnog – Make Sure It Doesn’t Suck

Tis the holiday season, and for some reason the host of every holiday party I attend thinks it’s necessary to serve eggnog.  I don’t know about you but I’ve had my fair share of less than appetizing eggnog.  Now, I’m not one to stay sober at a company Christmas party, but if I have to choose between lukewarm creamy egg water and sobriety, I will always take the latter.   Don’t fall victim to terrible eggnog made by some suburban “mixoligist” who doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing.  Also, never, and I mean never trust the store bought stuff.

Here’s are a few simple yet delicious recipes that you can brag about for years to come.

Traditional Eggnog

Beat yolks until light in color. Slowly add Buffalo Trace Bourbon and Prichard’s Fine Rum, while beating at slow speed. Chill three hours. Then add salt to the whites and beat to peaks. Whip cream until stiff. Fold whipped cream into yolk mixture, then fold in the beaten egg whites. Chill one hour. Serve with nutmeg sprinkled on top. For thinner mixture add 1 or 2 cups of milk. Serve in a punch bowl.

Highfalutin Eggnog (Waldorf-Astoria Style)

Shake well with ice cubes in a shaker and strain into a large highball glass over ice – Sprinkle with nutmeg

Cinnamon Blizzard Nog (Fireball Style)

Shake and serve.
