If you’re like me, well…I’m sorry for your parents. But that means that you probably love you some crawfish. From all accounts this has been a great season for crawfish in Louisiana and it seems like everybody I know has been having mini boils in their back yards.
But if you want someone else to do the work and help out a good cause at the same time, plan on showing up at the Nashville Farmers Market on Saturday June 2 starting at 4:00 for the Operation HomeFront Crawfish Boil. The Louisiana Seafood Company in the NFM is bringing hundreds and hundreds of pounds of mudbugs up for an all-you-can-eat boil with all the sides like potatoes and corn that you would expect at a great boil that will run until 10:00 at night.
Tickets are $40 and also include bottomless beer and sodas sponsored by Abita. Hopefully they’ll have their new summer Strawberry brew that they debuted at the East Nashville Beer Fest. There will also be door prizes and raffles all night long and live music featuring Louisiana acts. The music lineup is: Bullfrog Revue (tuba, guitar, harmonica, and funky relaxation); Roux du Bayou (Cajun French Chanky Chank/Zydeco; James “Nick” Nixon (blues/R&B); Les Kerr (Gulf Coast good-times tunes); Chief Smiley Ricks (Mardi Gras Indian); Ronnie Fruge’ (rockin’ country Cajun); Delicious Blues Stew (Bluesiana party band).
The event is limited to 800 people to make sure that everybody has access to plenty of food and beer. So go get your ticket right away at the event’s website.
The party benefits Operation HomeFront, a charitable organization that provides assistance to soldiers returning home from overseas.
