Sure, your favorite bartender might seem like a really friendly dude when you’re bending his ear about how your job stinks and your wife doesn’t understand you and for some reason, your dog doesn’t bark when your best friend comes around, but did you know that deep down he’s probably thinking of how he can come up with a new inventive drink recipe that will be acclaimed as the next great cocktail. That’s right, mixologists can be quite a competitive lot. Now thanks to our friends at Nashville Lifestyles magazine, the best of the best behind the bar have an opportunity to throw down face-to-face at the 8th Annual Bartender Bash and you can be there to witness the carnage.
On Thursday, August 22 at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. bartenders from some of Nashville best bars and restaurants will compete in the categories of ‘best Belvedere martini’ and ‘most creative cocktail’ at the Bartender Bash. Attendees will get the chance to sample each of the competing creations and help choose ‘people’s choice award’ while enjoying hors d’oeuvres from Mason’s restaurant.
Tickets are $30 in advance, available exclusively through Nashville Lifestyles, or $40 at the door. This 21-and-older event typically sells out, so don’t necessarily plan to be able to get your tickets the day of. Valet parking will be offered at a discounted rate, and cabs will be available (and recommended.) Here’s the rest of the info:
The guest judges, who will crown winners for both categories, are Evan Farmer, television personality, actor, producer, and author of “Breaking In: The Formula For Success In Entertainment;” Beth Sachan, the award-winning blogger of Eat-Drink-Smile.com and marketing director for Goo Goo Cluster; and Lindsay and Jon Yeager of PourTaste, America’s first craft cocktail house locator.
The competing bartenders include, with more to be announced:
Faith Barnes, Hard Rock Cafe
Brian Busher, Virago
Dennis Butler, 1808 Grille
Nicholas Diel, Mason’s
Doc Downs, Flyte World Dining and Wine
Taylor Edwards, Tavern

See you on the 22nd for some fine drinkin’!
