Mary Had a Little Lamb…and A Lot of Wine

  

Regular readers of Drink Music City probably think I only drink booze, but that’s not true. I also really like wine. Y’know…like the vermouth in my Manhattan.

Just kidding, the recycling bin at the Dipsomaniac house does have some green and brown bottles to accompany all the clear whiskey ones.

That’s why I’m excited about the upcoming Shannon Ridge Wine Extravaganza Dinner coming up next Wednesday February 5 at Lockeland Table. Check out the menu:

Snack: Sweet Grass camembert, caramelized onions, apple, cracker
Wine Pairing-Shannon Ridge Sauvignon Blanc
Course 1: Grilled GA Quail with sweet potato puree, apple, celeriac, sorghum
Wine Pairing-Shannon Ridge Barbera
Course 2: Five Onion Soup with crispy shallots and chives
Wine Pairing-Vigilance Chardonnay
Course 3: Wood-fired Shannon Ridge Lamb Poerterhouse with lentils, root vegetables and arugula
Wine Pairing-Shannon Ridge Home Ranch Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Course 4: Flourless Olive & Sinclair Chocolate Cake with blood orange
Wine Pairing-Shannon Ridge Betsy Vineyard Malbec

In addition to growing some great grapes, Shannon Ridge also raised the lambs that will make it to the table for course #3. The flock is so small they can probably tell you the name of your plate, if you’re into that kind of thing. Seriously, Shannon Ridge is very respectful of their flock, and the sheep play a valuable role in the raising of the grapes. For more info, check out this YouTube video.
